Default How Sun Rays Can Damage Eyes?

The sun produces many different types of light. The types that can harm the eyes are:

    * ultraviolet radiation which is invisible

    * blue light

    * very intense or bright light

Different parts of the eye absorb different kinds of rays of the sun. The front part of the eyes may be damaged when over exposed to ultraviolet radiation (UV radiation). If visible light is too intense or bright then the retina can be damaged.

Default How Sun Rays Can Damage Eyes?

The direct sun rays can affect immediately to our eyes. As you mention about UV rays which are invisible.Dangers of Ultraviolet Radiation to Your Eyes
The three categories of invisible high-energy UV rays are:
UVA rays. These are closer to visible light rays and have lower energy than UVB and UVC rays
UVB rays. These have slightly longer wavelengths (280–315 nm) and lower energy than UVC rays
UVC rays. These are the highest-energy UV rays and potentially could be the most harmful to your eyes and skin.
This is for UltraViolet rays. So for that we can use better sunglasses to avoid eye problems

It is good to share your ideas on this topic as exposing your eye to direct sun light can cuse you severe major sicknesses.
-So it is better to use sunglasses for eye care. You should get a prescribed pair of sunglasses as per the advice from a eye specialist or a ophthalmologist.
-Do not buy cheap, low quality sunglasses as they could do more harm to your eyes.
-Wear a cap or hat (something that covers the sunlight to your eyes) when you are going out during the day time.

Invest in good sunglasses for your whole family, including your children. Choose ones that:
Block 99 percent to 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays.
Have lenses that are large enough to shield the eye from the sun at most angles. Special sunglasses are available for people with macular degeneration. These have side panels and a ridge at the top that filter out all light.
Wear a wide-brimmed hat or cap to block about half of UV rays. This will also limit UV rays that reach eyes from above or around glasses.
Don't distort colors. If you choose colored lenses, the most helpful colors for blocking out blue light are red, orange, yellow and amber.
Carry a spare pair of sunglasses with you because they are easy to forget, misplace or break.

this will help u lot for ur eyes.....
    thanks.....

The ultraviolet rays of the sun are not only deleterious to the skin, but are also harmful to the eyes. These invisible rays are capable of damaging one's eyes and spending hours outdoors increases the chances of damage. The UV rays absorbed causes a reaction in the eye tissue, which once occurred cannot be reversed. There are two types of UV rays, one which is UVA rays, which penetrate to the back of the eye, while the other is UVB rays which penetrate to the front of the eye and cause damage.

Both these rays are harmful. Damage to the eyes can be caused by even one day of exposure to the sun, especially during the summer months when the levels of UV radiation are particularly higher; 3 times higher than in winter (between 10am and 3pm). The eyes can also get sunburned by reflection of sun rays from surfaces like pavements, sand, water, snow, etc.

    Sun Damage to Eyes: Symptoms

The symptoms of excessive sun exposure may not appear until 6-12 hours after exposure. The symptoms are as follows:
    • Headaches
    • Excessive blinking and tearing
    • Swelling of the eyes
    • Painful tearing of eyes
    • Difficulty in looking at strong lights
Some of the serious long-term problems associated with excessive sun exposure to eyes are temporary loss of vision, cataracts, cancer of conjunctiva, Benign or non-cancerous growths (pterygia) on the eye's surface skin cancer of the eyelids, sunburn of the cornea, etc.

Good and high quality sunglasses are the must for everyone who spends at least one hour on sun. It is better to buy prescription sunglasses, and don't try to save, good glasses really cost a lot. Also there are some drops that protect eyes.

Make sure the sunglasses have a UV treated lens .
Without UV the sunglasses could do more harm than good,
due to the fact that your eyes dial ate when a tint is put in front
of them without UV treatment you will actually allow more UV
    damage to your eyes.
Make sure they are quality Sunglasses

Bright sunlight damages vision. sunglasses are not a stylish accessory, but a real protection for your eyes. Besides, if you don't wear sunglasses, you will get wrinkles around your eyes. Be sure, eye specialists will tell you the same!
