Default eye twitching for almost 7 weeks

since i was young i had mild eye twitching only when i was very stressed out. maybe every couple years. I was in my fifth week of it being constant, when i decided to go to my doctor. he game me a perscription of 10mg novo-chlorpromazine . I was very nervous to start taking this. since i never take pills. but i forced myself. 10mg was to strong and i slept for about a week. so i decided my self to cut to 5mg and it has stopped it . but i do notice that when i am close to needing to take the next pill , the twitching starts. this tells me if i stop taking these pills i will have this twitch. dont know what to do. any help.

Default chlorpromazine & Eye-twitching - they could be inter-related to each other

I suffered from one of the symptoms of Tardive Dyskinesia of rapid purposeless eyelid-twitching / eye-blinking (in both eyes, for about a year) before as a result of the hemifacial spasms side effects of Risperdal (which is one of the antipsychotics similar to chlorpromazine).

Well, a brief research through the internet just reveals to me that chlorpromazine does potentially cause such an undesirable side effects of uncontrollable eye-twitching too, as such please refer to the -'Chlorpromazine side effects' column of the following website :

    http://www.drugs.com/mtm/chlorpromazine.html

For your further information, I have sought a great variety of medical treatments, both formal and alternative, including the taking of Botox injections (for 3 separate sessions) for my Tardive Dyskinesia / medication-induced rapid uncontrollable eye-twitching / blinking.

And eventually, I actually get it fully cured 5 years back through the acupuncture therapy, a needleless, self-administered one (and hence is free-of-charge) which has been imparted to me by the licensed acupuncturist (owing to the fact that my skin is sensitive to long-period needle-piercing therapy).

In such a connection, I would like to share with you and the intended readers the needleless, self-administered acupuncture technique, of which I have recommended as well to many people to deal with their like-problems. And I hope that the information given as follows will help you to get fully cured like me and the numerous others who have been troubled by such an annoying eye twitching / blinking problems.

Lastly, I wish you and the others a speedy and full recovery from such an annoying eye-twitching disorder. Thank you.

    Default Yup, that's right.

In terms of alteration of dosage, switching of medications etc, naturally at least a second medical opinion from the related medical experts, specialists etc would essentially needed to achieve better curative benefits for the medical conditions of the related patients.

In such a connection, chlorpromazine, which is actually an older version of the first-generation antipsychotic / neuroleptic, would actually tend to inflict its undesirable neurological / neuromuscular / neuro-degenerative side effects of Tardive Dyskinesia, Dystonia, Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS), Akathisia, Extrapyramidal Symptoms (EPS), Parkinsonism etc much more easily and quickly onto their users.

As such, the much more modern and advanced versions of the second-generation antipsychotics / neuroleptics such as Seroquel, Zyprexa etc as well as the recently invented third-generation ones, are actually developed and introduced to overcome the medical shortcomings, inadequacies and deficiencies of the older version of the first-generation ones. In this regard, these medications would actually manifest such undesirable neurological / neuromuscular / neuro-degenerative side effects in very much slower and highly unlikely ways onto their users.

However, given the fact that any antipsychotics / neuroleptics, regardless of which generations they are classified into, they are still actually powerful mind-altering tranquilizers that work by altering the chemicals in a person's brain by interferring with the synaptic activities of the neurons, antagonizing the neurotransmitters etc, safety precautions against their potentially disastrous side effects would thus need to be taken, essentially to ensure the health cares and well-beings of their users. In this connection, a second opinion from the related medical experts, specialists etc would thus needed to be sought to cross-verify and double confirm such issues.

My lower lid on my right eye has been twitching for about 3 weeks now. Went to the regular Dr and as it was time for annual blood work anyway he ran some tests. My potassium was low. Apparently this is a symptom of low potassium. Rather than taking supplements I have opted to increase my potassium rich foods and it is getting MUCH better. I suppose if I had done the supplements then it could be gone by now but I need to train myself to eat healthier anyway so I'm doing it the long way (even though it is driving me crazy!!)

Just though I would throw that out there in case nobody has checked that yet.

"My lower lid on my right eye has been twitching for about 3 weeks now. Went to the regular Dr and as it was time for annual blood work anyway he ran some tests. My potassium was low. Apparently this is a symptom of low potassium."

In your case, I believe that your eye-twitching could just be a medical phenomenon of myasthenia (muscular weakness) in the eyes organ as a result of stresses, overstraining of the eyes etc, and in terms of your case, maybe the serious lack of certain nutrients / minerals to support the normal functionings / movements of your eyelid muscles.

Next, in the case whereby no stress, any kinds of infections, overstraining of the eyes etc are involved whilst the eyelids and the entire organs just look superficially normal and ok, and at the same time, the eyelid-twitching / eye-blinking just get 'unexplainedly' from bad to worse from time to time, such medical scenarios could actually be caused by other neuromuscular disorders which are much more complicated. As such there can only be two possible explanations as suggested below :

The first one would be brain damages which involves losses of brain tissues / neurons. This is given for the fact that all the bodily movements are all controlled and co-ordinated by the brains through the neuron networks of the miscellaneous nervous systems. However, this is rarely and hardly unlikely the very reason for such chronic abnormal eyelid-twitching / eye-blinking given the fact that any serious damages incurred by the brain would cause actually a variety of movements and cognitive disorders rather than the severe eyelid-twitching / eye-blinking alone. In such connection, the brain-damage muscle-related disorders may include muscle atrophy, chorea, tourette syndrome (a largely genetical tic disorder) etc.

The second one would be disturbances caused by the side effects of certain medications etc to the synaptic activities of the normal functionings of the neurons, particularly when the key neurotransmitter chemicals, dopamine (which is responsible for the co-ordinations of miscellaneous bodily movements) are blocked and antagonised by certain medications, especially the mind-altering drugs (such as the antipsychotics / neuroleptics). Next, the neurons which are widely distributed in the bodily nervous systems actually work among one another through synaptic activities by which sensory and nerve impulses can be passed from one neuron to the others and then to the brains and the related muscles / glands, and the synaptic activities are actually conducted by the neurons through the secretions / productions of neurotransmitters by the neurons. So, when the synaptic activities of neurons are disturbed and the neurotransmitters are antagonised, then naturally the normal bodily movements will be disturbed.

And unlike the brain-damge-related muscle disorders which are systemic in nature (affecting more than one part of the bodily organs, muscles), such nerve-disturbing-induced movement disorders are actually, usually and highly localised (confined or restricted to a particular bodily location). One of the obvious examples would be Tardive Dyskinesia which involves abnormal movement disorders affecting the face of a person, especially the eyelids, causing such a symptom of rapid uncontrollable / involuntary eyelid-twitching / eye-blinking.

For extra details about my healing experience from chronic rapid eyelid-twitching / eye-blinking Disorder (through an alternative self-administered needleless acupuncture technique - a free-of-charge one), please refer to the weblinks and the related information included in the prior posts above. Thank you.

Default Follow Up : Tardive Dyskinesia

Follow Up : Tardive Dyskinesia (please make cross-references to the prior posts above)

Please consider the following excerpts about Tardive Dyskinesia ( of which one of the most common symptoms is purposeless uncontrollable rapid eye-blinking / eyelid-twitching)

"Tardive dyskinesia is a variety of dyskinesia (involuntary, repetitive movements) manifesting as a side effect of long-term or high-dose use of dopamine antagonists, usually antipsychotics. Other dopamine antagonists that can cause tardive dyskinesia are drugs for gastrointestinal disorders (e.g. metoclopramide) and neurological disorders. While newer atypical antipsychotics such as olanzapine and risperidone appear to have less dystonic effects, only clozapine has been shown to have a lower risk of tardive dyskinesia than older antipsychotics"

"Tardive dyskinesia is characterized by repetitive, involuntary, purposeless movements. Features of the disorder may include grimacing, tongue protrusion, lip smacking, puckering and pursing of the lips, and rapid eye blinking. Rapid movements of the extremities may also occur. Impaired movements of the fingers may also appear. For comparison, patients with Parkinson's disease have difficulty moving, while patients with tardive dyskinesia have difficulty not moving."

It might be some inborn eye problem.so u better consult a doctor and get proper treatment and lenses.

Yup, I agree to a certain extent.

And it may be the best case scenarios for the relevant doctors-in-charge to be able deal conclusively and completely with the related chronic eyelid-twitching / eye-blinking problems / symptoms or to even arrive at the correct diagnosis for their related patients at all.

Unfortunately in my case and the numerous others, we simply didn't get either both of those from our doctors and the other related specialists.

Default Acclaimed Efficacies of The Suggested Self-administered, Needle-free, Free-of-charge

Acclaimed Efficacies of The Suggested Self-administered, Needle-free, Free-of-charge Acupuncture Method and Appealed Humanitarian Causes For The Numerous Poor And Needy Others

Included below is a conversation excerpted from the other forum between me and the other person about expressing my deepest gratitude and thankfulness for putting in the trusts and confidences in my suggested self-administered, totally free-of-charge, painless, harmless and needle-free acupuncture method which is meant especially for the effective and full treatments of post-birth non-brain / neuron-damage & Tardive Dyskinesia / medication-induced rapid, purposeless, involuntary and uncontrollable eyelid twitching / eye blinking.

In addition to the acclaimed and obvious therapeutical and curative efficacies indirectly implied and asserted by this particular person about the suggested self-administered, needle-free, free-of-charge, painless and harmless acupuncture method, this conversation is also about expressing my heartfelt thankfulness as a part-time social worker to this person for voluntarily taking the initiaves to serve, pursue and further the noble humanitarian causes of helping the poor and needy others by recommending such a totally needle-free, self-adminstered, painless, harmless and free-of-charge acupuncture method to them to get their similar visually-incapacitating disorders substantially and evidently mitigated and fully cured in the end.

Hence, I sincerely and earnestly wish that the numerous kind and benevolent others will hopefully take and follow suit such humanely charitable and meritorious deeds as good and humanitarian example so that more and more poor and needy people all around the world would be tremendously benefited from all the related kind, noble and humanitarian deeds on your part from time to time into both immediate and distant futures. Thank you.

Original post made by this person as mentioned above :

"I think Actually these persons distributed nearly the identical sore know-how as me from such debilitating sickness and for your data, there were numerous of them who were not so well-to-do, and therefore they could not pay for such costly health accounts of glimpsing the health experts or to get Botox injections / surgical remedy to deal with their non-stop eyelid-twitching problems. Therefore, when I suggested such an acupuncture method to them, I did it out of benevolent humanity, understanding and compassion, and express gratitude God that it worked on each and every individual of them."

    My Replies :

"Thanks for putting in your trusts and confidences in my suggested self-administered, totally free-of-charge, painless, harmless and needle-free acupuncture method which is meant especially for the effective and full treatments of post-birth non-brain / neuron-damage & Tardive Dyskinesia / medication-induced rapid, purposeless, involuntary and uncontrollable eyelid twitching / eye blinking.

In addition, thank you very much for serving, pursuing and furthering such a humanitarian cause to help especially the poor and needy people for their health cares and well-beings. And as all the kind and meritorious deeds would definitely be rewarded by Heaven eventually based on the universal law of Karma, I firmly believe that you and the numerous benevolent others will be divinely blessed by God for all your nobly kind and benevolent deeds.

All in all, I would like to thank you all on behalf of all the poor and needy people for extending your unconditional kindnesses to them.

Actually, when I first sought the related acupuncture treatment from the licensed acupuncturist, I just found out and realised that my skin actually turned out to be extra sensitive to such needle-piercing therapy in that my right hand and then my entire arm and body just shook violently within a minute when the needle was pierced and remained into that "He Gu" acupuncture point (the one located on my right-hand).

Luckily, the related licensed acupuncturist was kind and benevolent enough to sympathize the tremendously agonising pains, ordeals and sufferings that I had gone through, so as to be magnanimous and generous enough to impart to me the particular self-administered acupuncture which was painless, needle-free, and hence free-of charge too, such as the one that I have mentioned in my prior posts before.

Subsequently, I just hope that by making that self-adminstered, needle-free, and hence free-of-charge acupuncture method, widely known to many others, anyone suffering from the same problem, especially the poor and needy ones will benefit from such a self-administered, free-of-charge, needle-free and painless acupuncture method to get their such muscular and visually incapacitating illness totally cured in the end.

Besides, given the very fact that such a self-administered, needle-free, painless, and hence free-of-charge acupuncture method could apply effectively to that particular "He Gu" acupuncture point to produce the obviously desired therapeutical and curative effects, based empirically on the ongoing prompt feedbacks so far given to me by the numerous others applying the particular suggested acupuncture method, and hence, hypothetically, I strongly believe that such a self-administered, needle-free, painless and free-of-charge acupuncture method would potentially and fairly apply to other acupuncture points too for the very purpose of curing and dealing with the other neurological and neuromuscular illnesses, especially the ones that share the same similarity to the Tardive Dyskinesia / medication-induced rapid, involuntary, uncontrollable, non-stop eyelid twitching / eye-blinking, which involves artificial disruptions, disturbances and interferences by the related medications to the synaptic activities of the neurotransmitter chemicals, neurons, neuron networks, miscellaneous bodily nervous systems etc.

All in all, I just hope that selfless and generous efforts will be put in one day by the benevolent and philanthropic others to study, explore and experiment on the therapeutical and curative potentials and efficacies, hopefully will be proven then by sufficient and ample empirical evidences, of the other bodily acupuncture points, so that the very similar self-administered, needle-free, painless, and hence free-of-charge acupuncture methods involving the different other bodily acupuncture points will be developed and invented one day in the immediate and distant future to cure and deal with especially the other neurological and neuromuscular illnesses (the ones involving other parts of human body), particularly the ones which remain "unexplained", "unexplainable", "incurable", "cannot be conclusively cured" etc by the mainstream modern day medical science.

Lastly, if such a goal as explained above can be achieved one day, I firmly believe that the numerous others, especially the poor and needly ones suffering from these particular difficult diseases which are "unexplained", "unexplainable", "incurable", "cannot be conclusively cured" etc by the mainstream modern day medical science, would certainly and definitely benefit considerably and ineffably from all these prospectively developed free-of-charge, self-administered and harmless acupuncture methods."

For the original version of this conversation, please refer to the very last post entitled "Thank you very much for being kind and benevolent for the poor and needy ones " from the other forum as included through the weblink below :

    http://www.drugs.com/forum/alternati...e-46571-2.html

Lastly, I wish that all your kind and benevolent efforts will make this world a very much more better and humanitarian place especially for the other numerous poor and needy people from time to time. Thank you.

    Default Dopamine & Mental Disorders

    Dopamine & Mental Disorders

Dopamine is actually one of the main neurotransmitters chemicals secreted and released by the countless of neurons (nerve cells) and brain cells of our miscellaneous bodily nervous systems and brains. Whilst the other main neurotransmitters chemicals would be Serotonin which plays the important role in "determining" how we feel based on whatever we see / perceive.

And well, the main function of the fluidly neurotransmitters chemical dopamine, which exist everywhere and anywhere in our human bodies and within the miscellaneous nervous systems, and "work" closely, mechanically and spontaneously with one another, is actually to control and co-ordinate our human bodily movements through their synaptic activities.

Basically, the synaptic activities is all about sending and receiving the various nerve and sensory impulses (originating from our sensory perceptions, feelings and thoughts) to the brains along the miscellaneous bodily nervous systems so that all the human bodily movements can be conducted freely at will by any normal human beings.

Nevertheless, the synaptic activities of the neurotransmitters chemical dopamine, in certain cases, can be interrupted and disrupted by the artificial curative mechanisms of certain medications, especially the mind-altering drugs such as antipsychotics / neuroleptics that serve to numb the cognitive senses of the brains by preventing the "neuro-traffics" of such nerve and sensory impulses from getting sent to / from the brains, resulting thus in miscellaneous neurological and neuromuscular disorders which are caused by interruptions to the synaptic activities of the neurotransmitters chemical, dopamine.

As such, please consider the excerpts below :

"All antipsychotic drugs tend to block D2 receptors in the dopamine pathways of the brain. This means that dopamine released in these pathways has less effect. Excess release of dopamine in the mesolimbic pathway has been linked to psychotic experiences. It is the blockade of dopamine receptors in this pathway that is thought to control psychotic experiences"

    which are quoted from :

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antipsychotics

In such a connection, the neurological and neuromuscular disorders caused by interruptions to the neurotransmitters chemical dopamine would be especially the movement disorders of Extrapyramidal Symptoms (EPS) , Tardive Dyskinesia, Dystonia, Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS), Parkinsonism etc.

Hence, please consider the excerpts below :

"Dyskinesias are movement disorders and can include any of a number of repetitive, involuntary, and purposeless body or facial movements.
    They can include:

Tongue movements, such as "tongue thrusts" or "fly-catching" movements
    Lip smacking
    Finger movements
    Eye blinking
Movements of the arms or legs.

An individual may or may not be aware of these movements. These movements are usually quite recognizable, and many people fear that others will know they are taking an antipsychotic medication due to these unusual movements.

Tardive dyskinesia is a dyskinesia that occurs after long-term treatment with an antipsychotic medication. Sometimes, this condition may become permanent."
