    Default Voluntary Eye-Tic

    Hi there!
I'm struggling against a bothersome eye-tic for over 1 year.
It's not involuntary like many eye-tics and it had a lot of different forms.
Now, I blink consistently, but only when I think about it. When I distract my mind, the eye-tic goes away, when I think about it, it returns.
The problem is that when I think about it, I can't distract my mind, especially when I am with others.
When I'm alone, I can easily distract my mind reading an article, watching TV, listening music but when I am with others, I simply can't.
It's a voluntary tic, I think, but even if it is a voluntary eye-tic, I can't stop it.
Is there anyone who has had similar experiences?
Is there any remedy or cure?
    Thanks in advance!

Default The issue in question is- whether you can control your eye-tic totally at your will

Well, I have gone through what you have written.

Basically, our various bodily and physical muscular movements, including the eyes are controlled by the nerve impulses carried by the neurotransmitters (especially dopamine) through synaptic activities. And our brains ultimately decide our physical bodily movements through such neurobiological mechanisms.

Therefore, if our various neuromuscular functions are totally fine and ok, then, one can just control his / her bodily movements freely and totally at one's very own free-will under almost every circumstance.

So, the question as to whether your eye-tic / muscular movements are actually voluntary or involuntary would depend on whether you can 100 % get it controlled, either consciously or subconsciously or even under any circumstances.

In my case, I have come across what you have gone through before like what you have described. And I would define such eye-tic movements as involuntary for myself in my very own case.

In such a connection, I actually get such an eye-related disorder in the first place as a muscle spasm neuromuscular side effects of certain medications labelled medically as Tardive Dysinesia (one of the symptoms being the rapid involuntary eye-blinking / eyelid-twitching / eye-tics.)

Eventually after a few months or so, my situation just keep on deteriorating until such a point whereby I nearly have no control at all over my eye-blinking / eyelid-twitching / eye-tic movements.

Luckily, having sought a great variety of medical treatments, including the one from Botox injections, I finally get my eye-related disorder totally cured once and for all through acupuncture treatment . Whilst my eyes would blink for countless times in a split second 5 years ago before I get totally cured once and for all, my eyes would blink only once in each 2 - 3 minutes on average ever since I am fully cured now (and that is considered 100 % normal to anyone I see / meet now).

As such, here are some details about my healing experiences :

So, as for your case, I would strongly advise you to look for and detect the exact causes of your abnormal eye-tics and deal with it accordingly so that its conditions would not deteriorate and get worse up to the disastrous scales.

So you cured your eye-tic through acupunture! Interesting!
I thought to use hypnosis to cure this problem because the real problem is not the eye-tic but the memory of the eye-tic. If only I could erase this memory, I will be fine!

Just for the sake of curiosity, how many acupunture treatments did you have?

Well, naturally everyone would want a healthy life which is free from any kinds of illnesses and diseases. So, it is understandable that all these illnesses and diseases, especially the "undiagnosable" ones can be quite annoying , distressing and frustrating to those having them.

However, regardless of what sort of undesirably annoying illnesses / diseases one might have, such unpleasant memories would actually and naturally be of none or very little concerns to those having them once such they are 100 % fully cured once and for all. So, judging from the very first post of yours, I believe that such a concept would apply to you as well as the numerous others too.

"Just for the sake of curiosity, how many acupunture treatments did you have?"

I actually get my medication-induced chronic rapid eye-blinking / eyelid-twitching, for which I have suffered for over a year, totally cured once and for all over 2 months by applying the suggested self-administered acupuncture cure imparted to me by the acupuncturist attending to my eye-related disorder in the first place, and for your information, this is actually due to the fact that my skin is extremely sensitive to such needle-piercing therapy, and hence, I would need an alternative needle-free acupuncture cure in my case to deal with my eye-related illness. And, for those who are in the similar situation as mine, I hope that my very own healing experiences from such an annoying illness would serve as a useful references to them.

    You was very helpful!
I will try acupunture because, even if my problem is far less bothersome than yours, I want to free myself from it!

Ok! I have decided! I'll make an appointment with an acupunture operator this week! I hope I will have your same results, even if my problem is less intense than yours.
    Thanks again for your advices!

Then I would wish you all the best and a speedy recovery for your eye-tic disorder.

In addition, I hope that the following Q & A sessions about Hemifacial Spasms (especially chronic eyelid-twitching / eye-blinking), Botox injections and acupuncture cures will further serve as useful references to you. Good luck.

Default Have you considered obsessive compulsive disorder?

Have you considered obsessive compulsive disorder?

I've experienced some OCD symptoms similar to what your describing.

One day I was talking to a friend who has severe OCD and realized I had experienced alot of OCD symptoms myself. My OCD was mild and more of a novelty than an imparement though. Being aware of what it was helped me control it.

It is an anxiety disorder, but I've had OCD like compulsions before with no anxiety. I found resisting and ignoring my compulsions helped make them weaker or at least gave them less power over me. Eventually they went away when my anxiety calmed down. Now I only wish this plain old-fashion eye twitch would go away.

Anyway, for a useful list of OCD symptoms Check out:

Its like a game!( i got alot of checks)
also do a google search for OCD + blinking. You may find it relevant.

Good Luck, Hope you find a solution!
