It's been almost 2 months now. I believe I've figured out I'm a "poly non-adapt". I now have new frames and Essilor 1.60 high index Thin & Lite lenses, transition with A/R, and while they are better than the poly, they are are not as good as the CR-39 lenses I wore (which I recently found out) for 4 years.

I am now having CR-39 plastic lenses made in new frames, with a smaller vertical lense, like I had before. CR-39 has an ABBE of 59 (the higher the number the better, and the less chromatic aberration, a form of distortion), compared to polycarbonate of 30, and 1.60 of 41. All this info can simply be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corrective_lens

I'm having to fight with my current Optometrist, because he doesn't believe this will fix my problem. And the Optician, nor him really, seem to know too much about ABBE values - I mean he put me in polycarbonate after the first optometrist without even mentioning the lesser optical quality or even checking to see what I had before that worked. I had to go online and have another doctor suggest, do what worked before.

One reason: CR-39 is $60, poly is $120 and 1.60 is $180. There's no money in CR-39, so Optometrists don't like to prescribe it, even though it has the best optical quality.

Any thoughts from anyone on this would be much appreciated. I get my CR-39 lenses in new frames at the end of the week - hopefully this will solve the headaches that I am still getting with the 1.60 lenses.
