    Arrow Eyeglasses

Williamson v. Lee Optical was a case during 1955. It occurred when Lee Optical made the claim that an Oklahoma law banning unlicensed individuals from fitting eyeglass lenses violated the Due Process Clause in the Fourteenth Amendment. While the courts first supported Lee Optical, the State of Oklahoma (which was represented by its Attorney General, Mac Q. Williamson) took the decision to the Supreme Court. By this point, the case had split into two parts, those being Williamson v. Lee Optical (which argued that the Oklahoma courts' rulings were unconstitutional) and Lee Optical v. Eyeglasses Williamson (which challenged the Oklahoma courts' assertions that the prohibition of unlicensed eye care was constitutional). During this period of time, the case attracted attention from the optometric community, as well as other states.
