Unhappy Anyone else scared about doing LASIK?

    Hi All,

I have been wearing glasses since I was about 18 years old. Slowly but surely my eyes have gotten worse and my prescription stronger. I have entertained the idea of getting LASIK but side effects that really hurt some people keep scaring me. Would waiting another 5 years advance the technology by leaps and bounds? I know it will never be full proof but I'm hoping the success rates get as close to perfect as possible and that the side effects decrease.

Anyone here have LASIK or are scared like me to do the procedure?

    Thanks!

I too belong to your group.
The success percentage as seen in texts(last year) - 92%
success percentage , what doctors claim now - 99%

    It's getting improved everyday.
I suggest it's good time to undergo, provided :

1.) you choose the best LASIK surgeon, who has performed atleast 100 corrections.
2.) you very much accept the fact that improvement in quality of life overweighs the risks associated.
3.) you qualify all the pre-tests.

    I have decided.

    Hi,

I am having laser surgery today - LASIK with Intralase which uses a laser to cut a flap on the cornea.
Many of my friend have had it done with no issues but it is not 100% but getting very close now.

I am scared but hope should be cool.
Optimax in london is surgery I'm going to today!

    Default Lasik

I am having lasik surgery tomorrow and I am nervous about it. I need PRK done in one of my eyes. My cousine and my boss had it done everything went well. I not sure why I am nervous, but I am...I guess it's like any surgery you do, there is always a risk.

I have been wearing glasses since I was 18.

    Anyone recently have lasik surgery/PRK?

    Thank you,
    Nat

    Red face Scared as well...

I am also scared of Lasik Surgery. I have undergone the testing, passed, got a second opinion from an ophthamalogist, and I am still scared. I am having surgery this coming Friday. I detest wearing my glasses and can no longer wear contacts. I am highly active, so it really impedes on my life, and I don't feel "myself" in my glasses. I have a highly qualified surgeon from Boston, so I have to have faith that everything will go OK. I will let you know.

    Default Lasik Know the Facts

Everyone seems to join these forums because they are scared of laser eye surgery or have had a bad experience. Well, i had lasik last October and i wish I had had it earlier. The only downside (apart from the cost) was that my eyes got very dry and i still have to use eye drops. Has anyone else had this problem and are drops the best solution?

I do think that LASIK is safe to undergo right now. And you guys are right, the procedure is not only safer, but it has a higher success rate now!
